Our
Projects

In 2021, we were super lucky to start up as Deep Seas just before Mental Health Awareness Month and BPD Awareness Week (both in October).

We used this time to launch some of our group programs for free! thanks to the amazing support of the Mental Health Coalition SA and BPD Collaborative.
Thanks to these two fantastic organisations, Deep Seas was lucky enough to win a grant to offer the programs for free - and connect with some truly wonderful people. This also gave us the chance to team up with Blip Art School for a day too!

Beginners Art at Adelaide Botanic gardens

An outdoor art workshop inspired by mindfulness skills. The group recreated something seen in the Gardens and informally learnt the WHAT, HOW and WISE MIND skills taught in DBT.

my name is with blip art school

My Name Is... focused on introducing the group the idea they are separate from their emotions and therefore do not have to be controlled by them - they have control over them. This saw them make a satchel of emotion ghosts to represent each emotion that THEY felt. This was inspired by the Emotion Regulation skills taught in DBT.

tipp of the gully

TIPP of the Gully offered an option for group attendees to tip their temperature and body responses in order to change their emotions. To wrap up, each attendee made a stress shaker using the environment. This was inspired by the Distress Tolerance module taught in DBT.

Q and A Guest Peer Speaker at Feast Queer Youth Drop In

I had the pleasure of dropping in at the Feast Queer Youth Drop In for Mental Health Month and answer questions about my lived experience and what it is like to live with BPD and recovering.

The Rite Journey mentor project

The Rite Journey Mentor Project facilitates the development of a mentor-mentee relationship between a school student and adult role model from their community. The student undertakes a project of some kind that is completed under the mentor’s guidance. The project is a free choice project decided upon by the two. For my dear mentee, we designed this gorgeous mandala on the shore of Brighton Beach.

Deep Seas Launch party and networking event

For my 25th, I gifted every mate a goodie box which contained a thank you card, a pocket sized affirmation card, a random box of kindness, my online wellness challenge as a zine and a local business registry zine which promoted all my artistic and sole trading friends. At the party we re connected with our inner child and played games of pass the parcel, pin the tail on the donkey, a pinata and a lolly jar guessing game.
